Welcome
Welcome to Lincoln Elementary School, home to nearly 400 Lincoln Leaders. Our school is named in honor of our nation’s 16th president, Abraham Lincoln. At our school, the students, staff, and parents work cooperatively to bring out the best qualities in each other. We also work together to meet our district’s mission statement of “optimizing students’ potential for success in a global society.”
Lincoln Elementary School provides a positive learning environment for students in grades K-5. A caring, dedicated, and highly qualified staff provides the direction and guidance for a diversified learning experience. Staff members guide students through developmentally appropriate curriculum which include English Language Arts, math, science, social studies, music, physical education, and visual arts.
Lincoln School has three classrooms at each K-5 level. Class sizes are appropriate to meet the needs of all students. Our Title 1 and special education programs offer individualized instruction for students who benefit from the instruction that is unique to these two programs. Reading and writing activities are integrated into the daily schedule. Students are also encouraged to make reading and writing a part of their daily at-home routines. Students are challenged through real-life problem-solving activities to make math relevant to their daily lives. Hands-on science and social studies activities and projects enrich the experiences of all our students. Our students look forward to participating in weekly physical education, music, and arts activities. They also look forward to visiting our library each week to choose a book or two for at-home reading.
Learning takes place outside the classroom walls at Lincoln School too. Lincoln’s playground provides a variety of structures for students to stretch their muscles and minds. A Peaceful Playground routine is practiced by all students to encourage cooperation and team spirit during their play time. Our guidance counselor leads our staff and students in teaching the Second Step anti-bullying curriculum which is practiced to provide a safe playground environment. A paved walking track allows students to walk safely as part of their daily exercise routine.
Lincoln’s PTA has been instrumental in promoting a positive working relationship between students, teachers and parents. Many of the playground structures installed were funded by our PTA. All PTA-sponsored events that take place throughout the year are family-friendly events and students and their families are encouraged to attend. Our Parent Teacher Association volunteers provide a great example for others who work in our school. Adult volunteers visit our school each day to provide academic, behavioral, and emotional guidance to our young children.
Lincoln School is located at 815 Locust Street and we encourage you to visit our school. It’s the home of Lincoln Leaders!
